Cricky Across the 50 Blog Hop

Welcome to CALIFORNIA!!!  The land of the rich and famous, home to the oh-so popular LA Lakers and USC Trojans, where the sun shines year round (at least on my side of the state) and where we constantly live in fear that the San Andreas Fault line breaks and the big quake of '84 happens again. (Or was it 74? lol, well you get the idea. It was sometime back then :D)

I am very excited to be part of this big historic hop celebrating KAndrews (Getting Cricky) move across the country. The ever so sweet and generous Kristal is packing her bags and moving on down to California. Can you say WooHoo!!! I'll finally get to meet up with her and hang out after missing her at CHA last month.

Kristal has an amazing lineup with an even more amazing lineup of prizes (Sponsors will be listed at the bottom of the post). In order to be eligible, you must hop along to every stop and leave some bloggy love. The hop will officially begin at 9am PST today and will end on Sunday 2/13/11 at midnight. All winner will be announced on or after Monday, the 14th.

Ok, lets get started. You should be hopping over from ARKANSAS, the home of Teela Young of Coffee24Tea. In case you aren't, click HERE to start at the beginning. You do not want to miss anything.

As I said in my intro, we are a state known for the rich and famous. And who or what are they, well all the Hollywood stars of course. So what better way to introduce you to California than to talk about Hollywood. I am a So Cal gal that lives approx 15-20 minutes by street (depending on traffic) away from the Hollywood area. Prior to 2000, the Hollywood area wasn't as beautiful as it is now. Sure it housed (and still does) the famous Graumon Chinese Theater - where all the Hollywood inaugurations happen - and sure it saw a lot of my high school secrets (lol) but it wasn't what it is now. The Hollywood & Highland complex has become the main feature of Hollywood. The complex houses the Kodak Theater as well as dozens of shops, restaurants, theaters and a huge bowling alley. That space is also used for live events and provides night life entertainment. So this place is def a must see...

*** You can click on the picute to get a better view of the smaller pictures***

Hollywood & Highland
(L-R)
1. Hollywood & Highland Sign
2. Top view of the inside (where a lot of events happen.) One of the biggest events that take place is when the cast of Twilight come out to promote their current movie. They have done it for all 3 films and every year, the mayhem worsens.
3. Considered the main entrance to the complex, shops, restaurants, etc. This entrance is on Hollywood Blvd.
4. Semi-Birds Eye of Hollywood Blvd.
5. Kodak Theater. The new home for the Oscars.
6. Across the street of the complex is the original Disney Store and the El Capitan Theater. If you are standing on the stairs, from picture 3, you can see this directly in front of you.
7. and 8. Graumans Chinese Theater, located on the same side of the complex but to the side of it. Its pretty much all connected.

ONTO MY FAVORITE PROJECTS

I choose these 2 because they are a combination of my crafting loves - Stamps, Prismacolor Pencils (Coloring) and the Cricut. I also chose them because they are special to me in their own ways. You can find full details of them on their original posts.
"I {Heart} You, part 2"

ok, so I hope you are still with me :). My blog candy consists of: A Scrap Kit, 2 additional packets of dimensional stickers and a Spool of Ric-Rac Ribbon. I'm not requiring for you to be a follower but I would love it if you are. Now you are off to the other side of the state, where my California buddy Nicolette Simpson of Beyond Scrapping will give you a tour of another beautiful attraction.

*** Don't forget to hop along to every stop because aside from all the great sponsors, each person has some great individual candy for you as well***

List of Sponsors (they are all linked up for you) : Scrap N Tote, Scrap N Easel, Cri-Kits, Creative Charms, Memory Miser, Scrappy Chic Cafe, Loralie Designs, My Pink Stamper, Peachy Keen Stamps, Cricut Town, The Scrappin' Table, Piktails, Really Reasonable Ribbon and Pink by Design

I am already one of your followers! Talk about a small world - especialy in this papercraft hobby! My husband lived in San Diego for many years and my dad and mom used to vacation on the california coast when they were younger. My dad adored deep sea fishing and they always stayed in the same place on the beach. Being raised here in Nebraska, where we have NO ocean front property, it's easy to see why he was so infatuated with your lovely state. Thanks for being a part of this fabulous 50 state hop - it's going to be a one of a kind event for sure!

I lived in Pasadena for 4 years while my husband finished his Phd. at Cal Tech. We were in a 5.9 Whittier quake in Oct 1987. Totally freaked me out. I flew home with my 2 sons for an extended Christmas break. The smog was horrible. Half the time the mountains were not visible. I never want to live in CA again because of that quake.
